Freedom for Women & Their Children in Kenya
My Perfect Economy and associated partner Re:LIFE, recently supported the social project of raising the funds to free women who have been imprisoned in Nakuru Kenya with their children for minor infractions such as selling vegetables without a license. Since they are unable to pay the fine, roughly half of their children die in prison because of poor conditions.
In conjunction with humanitarian organization Impact Nations worked together to free 16 women for just $88 each. The women freed were each given a 6 month license to catch up financially and the mayor of Nakuru himself donated $200.
The work is not done. The project was so successful other town and government want to get involved. We have been notified of the next 16 women for the program.
